Sean Bendickson
Worship Music Leader
Sean grew up in a musical family, the 3rd of 4 musical brothers. He learned worship music leadership in his home church of Immanuel Lutheran in Missoula, Montana. In 1993, as a high school freshman, Sean was invited to be a member of the newly formed Western States Servant Band where, over the following 5 years, he led music at various regional and national ELCA youth gatherings. He studied music and creative writing at Pacific Lutheran University. After graduating in 2003 he gained notoriety in the Tacoma and Seattle areas as a session musician, playing on countless records, and touring briefly with recording artists Michael O’Neill and Glen Phillips. From 2008 to 2016 he served as worship music leader at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Everett, and has been on staff serving as the worship music leader at BLC since 2016. Sean lives in Mount Vernon with his wife, son, 4 dogs, and 2 guinea pigs. He is occasionally spotted playing music at various farmers markets and other music venues around Skagit county.

Having grown up as a military kid I had the chance to experience a lot of places and cultures, which made me realize there is no one “right” way to live. As such, I’ve been ordained in two different denominations, although my spiritual home is in Lutheranism. Burlington Lutheran is an extraordinary congregation, I’ve bee. In 2023 my wife and I were married and BLC put on a huge party, including dancing unicorns! Deborah and I live with a young, precocious cat who was rescued in Anchorage by a friend I met while trekking in the Himalaya. You never know what life might bring, right?

My goal is to lead with love, kindness and a smile! I want everyone to feel welcome and included. I am a wife and mother of two teenagers. Although I have been following Jesus since I was a child, we have been pretty sporadic about attending church because we haven’t been able to find the right fit. It has been increasingly important to us that we find a church that is not only inclusive, but outwardly affirming. Every week we have attended BLC, and with every person we’ve met, it has solidified our family’s feeling that we have finally found our church family!
I am so excited to get to know everyone more and to assist you in any way I can as the Office Admin!
